Arizona Sundogs Sign Three
Prescott Valley, AZ — The Arizona Sundogs add young talent to their line-up, adding two defensemen and a forward to their upcoming 2012-13 Central Hockey League (CHL) season.
Joe Tolles 25, begins his fourth pro season in Arizona after playing 118 games and collecting four goals and 17 assists for 21 points, from 2010-13. Last season he skated in 33 games for the Fort Worth Brahmas of the CHL, before finishing his season with the Wheeling Nailers of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). The 6-foot, Toledo Ohio defenseman also played for the Florida Everblades, Kalamazoo Wings, San Francisco Bulls, Cincinnati Cyclones all of the ECHL and from 2010-11 for the Augusta RiverHawks of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). Prior to turning pro Tolles spent three years playing for the Omaha Lancers and Brock University posting six goals and 23 assists for 29 points.
Arizona Sundogs, Head Coach Kevin Colley commented saying “Joe will solidify our back end and is still young enough to have a prolific playing career and it helps that he has been playing pro for a few seasons.”
Mike Kavanagh 25, played his first pro season last year with the Fayetteville FireAntz of the SPHL where he tallied four goals and 27 assists for 31 points in 53 games. The Little Neck, New York native also played in two games for the Orlando Solar Bears and the Cincinnati Cyclones, both of the ECHL. The 6-foot-2, 215-lb defenseman split his collegiate career between Curry College from 2010-12, posting seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points in 44 games and SUNY-Plattsburgh from 2008-11 and put up nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points in 43 games. Kavanagh also spent one season playing junior hockey for the New York Apple Core of the Eastern Junior Hockey League where he tallied 10 goals and 32 assists for 42 points in 43 games.
“Kavanagh is hungry to win and having experience playing in the ECHL will help him be a solid defenseman for us”, said Coach Colley.
Dion Campbell 26, joins the Sundogs for his rookie campaign after playing five seasons with the University of New Brunswick. The 5-foot-10, Saskatchewan native played in 108 games and had 25 goals and 31 assists for 56 points. Campbell also tallied 56 goals and 72 assists for 158 points while playing juniors for the Yorkton Terriers and the Melville Millionaires.
Coach Colley explained “Dion comes to us with a championship attitude as he’s had prior success winning. With his past success, hunger to win and his speed he’s looking to put a stamp on his pro career.”
