Nov. 10 Random Notes On Our Yotes

Things about the Arizona Coyotes and the NHL  that crossed my mind this past week –

Some of my thoughts, some info and notes from the past week about our Arizona Coyotes and the National Hockey League.

Editor’s note:

Yotes Notes will now be posted on Tuesdays.

1.  Tomorrow is Veterans Day so please take a moment to honor the men and women that gave their lives to protect our way of life!

2.  The Arizona Coyotes went 1-1-0 this past week and started this week with an exciting 4-3 OT win in Anaheim on Monday night..

3.  Twenty-four year old Klas Dahlbeck is settling into a nice reliable defenceman isn’t he?  Not flashy but steady.

4.  Mike Smith seems to be on a roller coaster of one good, one bad!

5.  When the Coyotes are healthy they have a pretty decent team but their lack of depth really shows when they get an injury or two.

6.  Attendance Update:  Thursday night vs the Colorado Avalanche the attendance at Gila River Arena was a disgraceful 10,270 and on Saturday night vs the New York Rangers (an original six team) it was an okay but not great 13,029.

This team cannot and will not survive in Arizona with those type of numbers.  To all you fans that were there; WAY TO GO!  To you that weren’t; GET OUT TO THE RINK AND SUPPORT THIS TEAM!

7.  Now that Newell Brown has run the Coyotes power-play into dead last in the NHL does he still think that Mikkel Boedker on the point is still a good idea?  I’m not a fan of Boedker on the point.  I like him coming off the half-wall, especially on his off-wing.

8.  The Keith Yandle video tribute on Saturday night was a nice touch by the Arizona Coyotes organization.

9.  Martin Hanzal is the only player in the NHL that is leading his team in scoring without a goal.

10.  Do you realize that Max Domi (7), Anthony Duclair (6), Mikkel Boedker (5) and Tobias Rieder (5) account for almost 60% of all Coyotes goals?  The young guns are definitely stepping up aren’t they?

11.  I hope Nicklas Grossman isn’t out of the line-up for too long, he has been a pleasant surprise for me this season.  I remember him being okay with the Dallas Stars but to be honest I didn’t think much of him while he was playing in Philadelphia.

12.  I hope this never happens but if you were being completely honest would you blame LeBlanc, Gosbee, Barroway and company if they moved the Arizona Coyotes?  (see #6)

13.  Arizona Coyotes PP:  30th at 11.3% down from 25th at 11.6% last week.

14.  Arizona Coyotes PK:  10th at 84.0% up from 13th at 82.9% last week

15.  Arizona Hockey Talk is looking for Arizona Coyotes, ASU Sun Devils, and local minor hockey writers.  If you or somebody you know is interested, please contact us.

If you have any thoughts on any of these questions please let me know.

Thanks, Mitch
