Nov. 2 Random Notes On Our Yotes

If you liked it then share it.

Things about the Arizona Coyotes and the NHL  that crossed my mind this past week –

Some of my thoughts, some info and notes from the past week about our Arizona Coyotes and the National Hockey League.

Editor’s note:

Starting next week “Random Thoughts” will be posted on Tuesdays.

1.  The Arizona Coyotes went 1-2-0 this past week and finished the month of October with a 5-5-1 record.

2.  Congrats to Tyler Gaudet on getting his first NHL point.  He assisted on Steve Downie’s goal vs the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night.

3.  AND Congrats to Steve Downie on his first goal as an Arizona Coyote.

4.  Ummm?  What’s up with Mike Smith?

5.  Nice to see Antoine Vermette notch a couple of helpers last week.  Yotes need to get the veterans going.

6.  Is it time to think about trading Martin Hanzal?  I love him when he’s playing but I think he only averages about 55-60 games a season.

7.  Is it just me or does it seem like OEL is just coasting and always looking for the long breakout pass.  He’s not lugging the puck like he used to.

8.  My wife asked me why Tipp was still rolling four lines in the middle of the third period when the Yotes were down two goals vs the Canucks?  I told her Tipp didn’t want to tire his best players for their big golf tournament this week. It’s not like they had six days off between games or anything!

9.  If the Arizona Coyotes actually do move to another arena in the valley where would you like to see the new arena?  Scottsdale?  Downtown Phoenix?  Tempe? Mesa?

10.  Whatever happened to Coyotes 2010 first round pick Mark Visentin?  In 2010 they drafted Brandon Gormley and Mark Visentin in the first round.  The Yotes fritter away first round selections like a drunken sailors on shore leave.

11.  What!  NO Wifi coming to Gila River Arena?  You mean we actually have to watch the games now?  Of course I jest.  I didn’t even realize Wifi was a talking point until I read Craig Morgan’s article.  I just thought most people had 3G or 4G service nowadays.

12.  I think the Coyotes should get OEL and Michael Stone to switch sides on the PP and set Stone up for one-times from the point.

13.  Arizona Coyotes PP:  25th at 11.6% up from 28th at 8.8% last week.

14.  Arizona Coyotes PK:  13th (up) at 82.9 (down) from 14th at 83.9 last week

15.  Arizona Hockey Talk is looking for Arizona Coyotes and ASU Sun Devils writers.  If you or somebody you know is interested, please contact us.

LET’S GO YOTES

If you have any thoughts on any of these questions please let me know.

Thanks, Mitch

  1. I have a hard time believing these owners would spend the dough to build an arena here in Phoenix after what we’ve been through.
    And wait till Thursday.
This game is going to be an attendance DISASTER.
If they move any sound business person will move where the team can be supported and fans will be interested enough in them to support them.
Im a STH and am embarrassed at the support this team gets and the excuses as to why “fans” don’t.
I would move to Quebec City if I were Mr. Leblanc.
He’ll may give the hockey “fans” of Phoenix a 10th chance.
    But, they and undeserving
I gurantee I will have a whole row to myself on Thursday and how embarrassing it is when they do win and salute the “fans” in an empty arena.
    It’s time Mr. Leblanc..

I too am a STH and I also get really pissed off with the weekday attendance but for me it’s location, location, location … beautiful rink in the wrong part of town.
