Oct. 19 Random Notes On Our Yotes

Things about the Arizona Coyotes and the NHL  that crossed my mind this past week –

Some of my thoughts, some info and notes from the past week about our Arizona Coyotes and the National Hockey League.

Opening week saw lots of firsts and congratulations for some of our new and veteran Arizona Coyotes players.

1.  The Arizona Coyotes went 1-2-0 this past week and are now 3-2-0 to start the season.  Not too bad.

2.  I think it would be more than fair to say that the Arizona Coyotes “special teams” cost them their last two games.  The PP is non-existent and the PK was almost as bad.

3.  Mikkel Boedker has been invisible through the first five games.  I don’t think that will last too long but he obviously hasn’t shaken his inconsistency issues.  I think we can cut him a little slack since he was out for an extended time with an injury last season.

4.  Congrats to Captain Shane Doan on scoring his 900th NHL point on Saturday night versus Boston.  He finished the night a goal and couple of helpers.

5.  Nicklas Grossman plays a pretty simple but yet effective game doesn’t he?

6.  It’s time to end the Mikkel Boedker playing the point on the PP experiment, it’s just not working.  He is way more effective as a forward on the PP.  (see #3)

7.  The Yotes have their work cut out for them heading out east on a five game road trip.  This will be a good litmus test and I’d be happy with 5 points.

8.  I wonder how many games Anders Lindback will start in goal on this road trip?

9.  I would like to see defenceman Stefan Elliot play a couple of games on the upcoming road trip.

10.  Note to Connor Murphy; you’re 6’4 and 210 lbs, don’t be afraid to use your size.  In saying that I think the Coyotes defencemen have done a much better job moving opposing players in their crease area.

11.  I wonder if OEL can top his 23 goals from last year?  That’s a pretty tall order.

12.  I really hated the fifth goal in the Boston game Saturday night.  The defenceman backed in on Mike Smith and created a perfect screen for Patrice Bergeron to snap a screened shot through the defencemen’s legs and score.

13.  Max Domi and Anthony Duclair have very good chemistry together.  I wonder how long it takes Dave Tippett to play them together regularly on the same line?

14.  So much for Coyotes Head Coach, Dave Tippett exercising his “out” clause during the off-season.  I never thought he would leave but the rumors were out there.

15.  Arizona Hockey Talk is looking for Arizona Coyotes and ASU Sun Devils writers.  If you or somebody you know is interested, please contact us.

LET’S GO YOTES

If you have any thoughts on any of these questions please let me know.
