Oct. 26 Random Notes On Our Yotes

Things about the Arizona Coyotes and the NHL  that crossed my mind this past week –

Some of my thoughts, some info and notes from the past week about our Arizona Coyotes and the National Hockey League.

Opening week saw lots of firsts and congratulations for some of our new and veteran Arizona Coyotes players.

1.  The Arizona Coyotes went 1-1-1 this past week and are now 4-3-1 to start the season.  They have two more games on this current five game road trip and then they return home on Friday night for a tilt with the Vancouver Canucks.

2.  Congrats Anders Lindback on his first win between the pipes as an Arizona Coyote vs the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night.

3.  Mike Smith’s behind the net giveaway in a 1-1 hockey game in the 3rd period vs the Rangers Thursday night was inexcusable.  Smitty is way better than that and it really did cost the Yotes the game.  Horrible timing especially in as game where he had played very well.

4.  I’m so sorry, I never got the memo from the NHL.  I didn’t realize the money we all spend to go to NHL hockey games was to watch the referees!  Silly me.  Sorry Gary.

5.  The Stone vs Stone and Michalek vs Michalek battle was won by Michael and Zbynek on Saturday night.

6.  FINALLY the Mikkel Boedker “playing the point on the PP” experiment is OVER.

7.  OEL doesn’t look right to me.  He hasn’t looked bad but something is missing.

8.  Congrats to Klas Dahlbeck on his FIRST goal as a Coyote.  (Thursday vs NYR)

9.  I fail to see how defenceman Stefan Elliot is any kind of an upgrade over Brandon Gormley.  I’ll give it some time but I don’t see it now.  In case you haven’t noticed I was a big Brandon Gormley supporter.

10.  Just when I think Connor Murphy is ready to take that next step he takes a step backwards.  I should know better.  It takes young defensemen more than a couple of years to become consistent.

11.  Mikkel Boedker posted a hatty on Saturday night vs the Senators.  Nicely done.

12.  Jordan Martinook is being out-hyped by his flashy rookie partners Max Domi and Anthony Duclair but I like him too!

13.  Arizona Coyotes PP:  28th at 8.8%

14.  Arizona Coyotes PK:  14th at 83.9

15.  Arizona Hockey Talk is looking for Arizona Coyotes and ASU Sun Devils writers.  If you or somebody you know is interested, please contact us.

LET’S GO YOTES

If you have any thoughts on any of these questions please let me know.

Thanks, Mitch
