Random Thoughts On The Arizona Coyotes: Dec. 29

Things about the Arizona Coyotes and the NHL  that crossed my mind this past week –

Here are a few thoughts from this past week about the National Hockey League and our Arizona Coyotes.

1.  The Arizona Coyotes finished this past week with a 2-1-0 record.  Thoughts?

2.  On Saturday night, the Coyotes finally beat somebody not named the Edmonton Oilers!

3.  Welcome back to the line-up Brandon Gormley!

4.  The Yotes won a hockey game Saturday night versus Anaheim on a winning goal in the shootout from Shane Doan AND I don’t think we will ever see anything like it again!

5.  The Coyotes are choosing performance over contract status in naming their starting goalies lately.  You don’t see that very often in professional sports.

6.  The Arizona Coyotes play 7 of their next 8 games at home and this will probably determine if they have a shot at the post-season or if it’s time for a re-build.

7.  In my humble opinion, the Arizona Coyotes don’t have anybody worthy of representing the team at the 2015 NHL All Star game.

8.  Has Devan Dubnyk officially won the starting job in the Coyotes net?  (see #5)

9.  I don’t believe in stuffing the ballot box and voting for the local team’s players (Yandle or OEL) for the NHL All Star Game.  Players should be named according to merit and not popularity.  AND because they do it in other sports isn’t a valid argument.  (see #7)

10.  I would like to wish all of our readers at Arizona Hockey Talk a very Happy New Year!  Be safe and “Don’t drink and drive”.

If you have any thoughts on any of these questions please let me know.

Thanks-you, Mitch
