Random Thoughts On The Arizona Coyotes: Feb. 2

Things about the Arizona Coyotes and the NHL  that crossed my mind this past week –

Here are a few thoughts from this past week about the National Hockey League and our Arizona Coyotes.

1.  The Arizona Coyotes came out of the All-Star break with a 2-1-1 record this week … 5 out of 8 points!  Thoughts?

2.  Conrats to Louis Domingue for getting to play in his first game (3rd period) on Saturday in Ottawa and getting his first start and win on Sunday!

3.  According to Coyotes G.M. Don Maloney everybody is available at the trade deadline for the right price.

4.  FYI … Martin Hanzal missed 2 more games on this road trip.  On average, Hanzal misses approximately 10 games per season and he has already missed 13 this season.

5.  In this town, you either love Keith Yandle or you want him traded.  What side are you on?

6.  The Arizona Coyotes have dropped to 4th in the “Connor McDavid/Jack Eichel Sweepstakes” also known as the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

2014 standings

7.  What a weekend for Coyotes goaltender Louis Domingue!  He gets called up on Saturday and actually gets to play a period versus Ottawa, then starts on Sunday versus Montreal in his hometown and beats them 3-2 in front of his family and friends for his first NHL victory!  (see #2)

8.  I guess if Wayne Gretzky can get traded there is no such thing as an untouchable!  (see #3)

9.  It looks like Antoine Vermette, Zbynek Michalek, Martin Erat, and David Moss will be prime candidates to be moved before the Mar. 2 NHL trade deadline.

10.  I’m surprised, then yet I’m not surprised, that Arizona Coyotes Captain Shane Doan doesn’t want to be traded at the deadline.  I know he wants to finish what he started here in the valley but if a big-time contender came knocking I think he should reconsider his stance.  What do you think Coyotes fans?

11.  The Good News:  The Arizona Coyotes PP is ranked #7 running at 21.1%.

12.  The Bad News:  The Arizona Coyotes PK is ranked #26 at 77.1%.

If you have any thoughts on any of these questions please let me know.

Thanks, Mitch
