Things about the Arizona Coyotes and the NHL  that crossed my mind this past week –

Here are a few thoughts from this past week about the National Hockey League and our Arizona Coyotes.

1.  The Arizona Coyotes went 0-1-0 this week losing their last game before the All-Star break.  Thoughts?

2.  Congrats to Lucas Lessio on scoring his 1st goal in the NHL versus Chicago last week.

3.  IMHO, the term “All-Star” gets thrown around way too loosely!

4.  I think most hockey fans would rather just watch the NHL “All-Star Skills Competition” and do away with the actual game.

5.  The Los Angeles Kings lead the NHL with 12 overtime or shootout losses.

6.  The Arizona Coyotes are sitting in 3rd place in the “Connor McDavid/Jack Eichel Sweepstakes” also known as the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

7.  The World Cup of Hockey in 2016 is going to have a couple of interesting teams in it including an All-Star team made up of top 23-and-under North American players and another featuring the top NHL players from the European countries that aren’t represented by their national teams, including Switzerland, Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Norway, Denmark and Latvia.

8.  Does playing in the “NHL All-Star Game” make you an “All-Star”?  (see #3)

9.  In case you missed it, check out Coyotes prospect Max Domi’s goal from a couple of days ago.

10.  It looks like the future holds more World Cups and less Olympic participation for NHL players.

11.  The Good News:  At the All-Star break the Arizona Coyotes PP is ranked #7 running at 21.5%.

12.  The Bad News:  At the All-Star break the Arizona Coyotes PK is ranked #27 at 76.0%.

If you have any thoughts on any of these questions please let me know.

Thanks, Mitch
