Random Thoughts On The Arizona Coyotes: Nov. 10

Things about the Arizona Coyotes and the NHL  that crossed my mind this past week –

Some of the things that rattled through my head about the NHL and our Arizona Coyotes this past week.

1.  The Arizona Coyotes finished this past week with a 2-1-0 record.  Thoughts?

2.  The NHL scheduling makes absolutely no sense at times!  The Yotes are playing in Anaheim while the Islanders are having a nice day off in Glendale laying in wait!

3.  Mike Smith had a very good week stopping the puck and was brilliant versus the Anaheim Ducks and the New York Islanders.

4.  Martin Erat is starting to develop some good chemistry with Martin Hanzal.  Now we need goals.

5.  I’m glad to see the Coyotes are giving Brandon Gormley a good look.

6.  The Coyotes need to find goals at even strength.

7.  I really thought this was the year Mikkel Boedker was going to take a big step forward as a prime-time player but he’s gone cold after a great start to the season showing he’s still inconsistent.  The Coyotes need him every night!

8.  It looks like another year of “as Mike Smith goes, so do the Coyotes”!

9.  After a slow start, the captain is playing good hockey.

10.  OEL is really struggling without the puck early this season.  He is still a very high-end offensive talent and it’s just a matter of time before his complete game is at 100%

Some of these questions are serious, some are just tongue in cheek and some are me just being a _________.  (you fill in the blank)

If you have any thoughts on any of these questions please let me know.  I am a curious person by nature and I need answers.

Thanks-you, Mitch

  1. I know our schedule especially 4 in a row November games on Tuesday will be tough.
But , those excuses are no good anymore because every fan of NHL hockey in general and the Coyotes in particular knows what’s at stake.
They don’t show, it’s on them.

The Yotes need to get through November (9 road games vs 3 home games) in decent shape, score some goals at even strength and clean up their own end! They can’t rely on the PP and Mike Smith every night.
