Random Thoughts On The Arizona Coyotes: Oct. 27

Things about the Arizona Coyotes and the NHL  that crossed my mind this past week –

Some of the things that rattled through my head about the NHL and our Arizona Coyotes this past week.

1.  The Arizona Coyotes finished this past week with a 1-1-1 record.  Thoughts?

2.  Congrats to Justin Hodgman on playing in his first NHL game AND on his FIRST NHL goal in a winning effort Saturday night versus the Panthers.

3.  Last week I stated here that …  “I’m sure, in fact I’m positive, that the Coyotes can’t have Murphy and Summers as a defence pairing!” and obviously Tipp agreed by pairing Murphy with OEL and demoting Summers to the #7 d-man.

4.  Touch wood but it looks like Mike Smith has found his mojo again.  He looked really good in his loss to Minny and was very good in his win over Florida!

5.  I vote for Coyotes forward, Kyle Chipchura, as the best utility player in the NHL.  How was he a healthy scratch to start the season?

Kyle Chipchura

Coyotes forward Kyle Chipchura has been very good so far in 2014-15

6.  Does Shane Doan have a goal yet this season?

7.  Keith Yandle gets away with his many blunders and soft defensive play because he off-sets it with his good offensive play but that scale is starting to tip in the wrong direction more and more IMO!

8.  Sam Gagner really needs to find his offensive game.  He is really fighting it right now but he is a talented offensive player and I think it’s just a matter of time before he breaks loose.

9.  It’s a good thing the Coyotes PP is clicking at a good rate because the even strength goals are scarce right now!

10.  I feel a big trade involving the Coyotes coming up before the Christmas break.  Agree or disagree?

LET’S GO YOTES

Some of these questions are serious, some are just tongue in cheek and some are me just being a _________.  (you fill in the blank)

If you have any thoughts on any of these questions please let me know.  I am a curious person by nature and I need answers.

Thanks-you, Mitch

  1. As a former military commander, ( not the civil war a Robert E Lee, he was a general who came from West Point, I was a very mediocre Major who came through the ranks and went to OCS, Ft. Benning GA )
Anyway, I would have to know the intent of the new ownership before I could even predict.
    I mean about trades.
A couple of these guys are Hedge Fund Managers.
Their business ( most times) are to hostiley take over broke or near broke businesses, then intentionally overload that company with debt so the company can’t survive.
So, if this guy really wants to go for it with this team and is sincere, I’ll GURANTEE there will be some trades ( hope not Yandle though)
If he is the sort of businessman who likes to flip companies and make quick profits off of a companies struggle (or hockey club) then he will just allow it to flounder.
    It all depends whet
Her or not this new leadership team is sincere or whether they will predictably do what Hedge Fund guys do best…
