Random Thoughts On The Arizona Coyotes: Apr. 20

Things about the Arizona Coyotes and the NHL  that crossed my mind this past week –

Some random facts and a few thoughts from this past week about the National Hockey League and our Arizona Coyotes.

1.  The Arizona Coyotes dropped down a spot and finished a disappointing third in the NHL Draft Lottery held on Saturday.

2.  The Yotes have signed prospect Christian Dvorak to a three year entry level contract.  Dvorak was a second round pick (58th overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

3.  The Coyotes will be changing their AHL affiliation from the Portland Pirates to the Springfield Falcons starting next season.

4.   The Coyotes have sent goaltender Louis Domingue, forwards Henrik Samuelsson and Jordan Szwarz, and defenseman Klas Dahlbeck to the Portland Pirates (AHL) for some playoff action.

5.  I guess the next big day on the calendar is June 26 when the 2015 NHL Entry Draft will be held in Sunrise, Florida.  (see #1)

6.  I wonder what type of “free agents” the Coyotes will be targeting come July 1st.  Last off-season they went heavy on the “lunch bucket” type of player.

7.  I’m not exactly thrilled about the Edmonton Oilers winning the Connor McDavid sweepstakes AND I’m not alone.

8.  I wonder if the Coyotes will be the NHL’s youngest team next season.  On paper, it sure looks like it could be a possibility.

9.  Why do they call them “free agents” cause they certainly aren’t free!

10.  The Arizona Coyotes are going to get a pretty good player with the third pick at this years draft but they really needed the instant offence that Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel would have provided.

If you have any thoughts on any of these questions please let me know.

Thanks, Mitch
