Random Thoughts On The Arizona Coyotes: Mar. 30

Things about the Arizona Coyotes and the NHL  that crossed my mind this past week –

Some random facts and a few thoughts from this past week about the National Hockey League and our Arizona Coyotes.

1.  The Arizona Coyotes had a 2-1-0 record this week … 4 points!

2.  Nobody can accuse the Arizona Coyotes of tanking for Connor McDavid after two gutsy road OT wins and competing every game.

3.  OR the Edmonton Oilers.  (see above)

4.  How many goalies have the Buffalo Sabres gone through in their quest to tank for the 1st overall lottery pick?

5.  I guess Randy Carlyle was the problem in Toronto (said with tongue firmly planted in cheek)!

6.  The Arizona Coyotes are still in the 2nd to last position in the “Connor McDavid/Jack Eichel Sweepstakes” also known as the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

7.  The official Draft Lottery is being held on April 18.

8.  It looks like the Arizona Coyotes are going to finish no worse than 29th that guarantees them a “top 3” pick and a very good player.

9.  Congrats to Coyotes prospects Max Domi of the London Knights and Ryan MacInnis of the Kitchener Rangers who have been named finalists for the Ontario Hockey League’s Most Outstanding Player of the Year award.

10.  Also, Congrats to Coyotes prospects Christian Dvorak of the London Knights and Brendan Perlini of the Niagara IceDogs who have been named finalists for the OHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player of the Year award.

11.  Sam Gagner had a nice game in the face-off circle vs the Penguins going 9 of 11 for 82% and Kyle Chipchura was a very solid 14 of 22 for 64%.

12.  Did anybody else think that Shane Doan’s hit on Kris Letang was just a good hockey hit gone bad?  Doan’s game doesn’t change from night to night so this was not something out of the ordinary.  It was just an unfortunate injury.

13.  I wonder who the Buffalo Sabres are starting in goal for tonight’s game vs the Coyotes?   Maybe a call-up from the ECHL?

14.  PP update:  The Arizona Coyotes PP is still ranked #7 this week running at 20.4%.

15.  PK update:  The Arizona Coyotes PK remains in #26 place ranked at 76.6%.
