Week 4: Arizona Hockey Talk’s preliminary evaluations of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft top prospects continue today with our featured prospect Roland McKeown.
Roland McKeown had a solid rookie season in the OHL despite the -24 rating that jumps out at you. After 20 games this season he already has twelve points and has plus/minus rating of +13. McKeown is a good positional defenceman that makes good decisions. He moves the puck well and has a good shot. Early on in the 2013-14 season he is getting a little more comfortable with his offensive game.
He represented Canada at the 2013 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament where Team Canada won the Gold Medal.
Prospect Analysis:
Roland McKeown is considered a top prospect for the 2014 NHL Draft and will be going head to head with Barrie Colts defenseman Aaron Ekblad for top defenceman in the OHL. McKeown is projected to be a “Top 10” prospect
