David Clarkson
Position: RW Shoots: Right
DOB: Toronto, ON
Height: 6’1 Weight: 200
David Clarkson, like Nathan Horton, is a RW that a lot of teams will covet this UFA season.
Clarkson has decent size at 6’1 with a nice mix of scoring and sandpaper. Clarkson will have more than a few choices for his next hockey home.
My fear is his ticket will be a little too expensive for the Winnipeg Jets. I don’t have a major problem with over-paying a little for a “teams need” especially on a shorter term basis (Ollie Jokinen) but one thing I hate is unrealistic term. For me David Clarkson is player I’d sign to a 3-4 year contract. If he’s looking for one of those Luongo contracts he can look elsewhere ….. not happening here.
I think Clarkson could be that classic case of a player getting over-paid and then possibly becoming a disappointment because of unrealistic expectations. He’s just not that type of player. He has value but only at the right price …. AGAIN.
