Brandon Gormley

LD (acquired in 1st round of 2010 entry draft 13th overall)

A talented two-way defenseman, Gormley provides skill, poise and leadership on the back-end. Although he is an all-around defenseman, Gormley is developing into an exceptional offensive player with lethal power-play skills. His ability as a distributor, his hard, accurate shot and strong in-zone work makes him one of the best defensive prospects in hockey. The 2010 first-round pick has the chance to crack the Coyotes roster in 2012-13. Projects to be someone who can play on the top pairing and the first power-play unit.

David Rundblad

LD (acquired from Ottawa in the Kyle Turris trade)

Rundblad is an offensive minded defenseman with good size and excellent skills. He has good vision and carries the puck with confidence. A top notch player on the power-play, Rundblad’s best attribute is his ability to distribute the puck quickly and efficiently while also being able to launch a hard point shot. Rundblad’s defensive game remains a work in progress and must continue to improve. Will be in the mix for full time duty with the Coyotes, but may have to prove himself further in the AHL. Offensive ability is NHL quality but he must become more reliable in his own zone.

Michael Stone

RD (acquired in 3rd round 2008 entry draft 69th overall)

A smart two-way defender with good size and reach, Stone is a composed player at both ends of the rink. He is a strong puck-mover who makes a crisp first pass and can move the puck smartly and quickly up the ice. Keeps it simple in his own end relying on good positional and stick play. Stone has made some nice strides in the Phoenix organization and his limited time with the club, including some playoff action, is a testament to his hard work. He will push for a spot in the top 6 but will be in tough again due to the team possessing such depth at the position

Henrik Samuelsson

C (acquired in 1st round of 2012 entry draft 27th overall)

A big, powerful winger with some impressive physical attributes, Samuelsson has the tools to become a force as a power forward on the wing. On top of his size and strength he has good hands and can handle the puck with confidence on the rush. Also possesses a high hockey IQ, knowing the right places to be in both ends With just one short WHL season under his belt, Samuelsson will return to the Edmonton Oil Kings where he will continue to establish himself as a big body presence with skill.
