Arizona Coyotes Mid-Term Report Card: Forwards

Arizona Coyotes grades for the forwards –

As usual in any hockey season, any given NHL roster is going to have its surprises and it’s disappointments.  The Arizona Coyotes are no exception.  The Arizona Coyotes forward group in the first half of the season have been very inconsistent.

Mikkel Boedker

Mikkel Boedker is the Yotes best forward but still fights consistency

Mikkel Boedker, Martin Hanzal (oft injured), and Antoine Vermette have been pretty solid but have also had some bumps in the road.  Sam Gagner had a better second quarter but still not good enough based on his skill-set.

The Coyotes forward group has no depth and is a mix of mostly 3rd and 4th line players playing out of position.  The Coyotes need to drastically improve their “Top Six” forwards, as this group is just not good enough.

I assign two grades; first (hockey grade) is just strictly what you see is what you get and the second (ROI) is weighed against salary or “bang for your buck”.

At the time of this “Report Card”, the Arizona Coyotes record was 16-20-4 and I feel these grades accurately reflect their play.

Please feel free to add your grades or opinions on any player/players you feel I have over-rated or short-changed.

Defencemen, goaltenders and special teams will be posted tomorrow.
