Sundogs Sign Two

The Arizona Sundogs announced today they have signed forwards Damian Surma and Tommy Maxwell for their 2013-14 Central Hockey League season.

Tommy_Maxwell280Surma 32, is a proven goal scorer and has continuously been ranked as one of the top scorers on his teams. Last season marked his eleventh pro season. In 2012-13 he skated for Rapid City Rush of the CHL and tallied 15 goals and 29 assists for 44 points in 61 games. The 5-foot-9, Michigan native has played in two National Hockey League (NHL) games for the Carolina Hurricanes and collected one goal. Surma has also spent time playing in the American Hockey League (AHL), East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), United Hockey League (UHL) International Hockey League (IHL) and the CHL. Over the span of his career he has posted 183 goals and 224 assists for 407 points in 578 games. He also spent three years from 2006-09 overseas playing for Italy’s Asiago HC and the Valpellice, scoring 33 goals and 35 assists for 68 points in 78 games.

Maxwell 27, joins the Sundogs and reunites with Coach Colley after playing for the Utah Grizzlies in 2012-13 where he collected five goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 50 games. He ended the season with 227 penalty minutes and a plus-minus rating of -15. The 200-pound, right winger has spent time with the Hershey Bears, Manitoba Moose and the St. John’s IceCaps of the AHL putting up seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points in 155 games. Previously Maxwell has also played for the Phoenix Roadrunners, South Carolina Stingrays, Victoria Salmon Kings and the Colorado Eagles of the ECHL posting 12 goals and 24 assists for 36 points in 137 games.
