Things about the Arizona Coyotes and the NHL  that crossed my mind this past week –

Some of my thoughts, some info, and notes from the past week about our Arizona Coyotes and the National Hockey League.

1.  The Arizona Coyotes played four games last week going 2-1-1 and now have an overall record of 30-32-7.

2.  Welcome back, Mike Smith!  In what I thought was a surprise start, Smitty shuts out the Edmonton Oilers 4-0 on Saturday night.

3.  The National Hockey League has suspended Yotes d-man Jarred Tinordi for 20 games without pay for violating the  NHL/NHLPA’s Performance Enhancing Substances Program?  I wonder if the Montreal Canadiens knew?

4.  I don’t think much of Sergei Plotnikov and don’t see him in the Coyotes future.

5.  Kevin Connauton is definitely the waiver pick up of the year.  IMO, he’s been one of the Yotes steadier defencemen since his arrival.

6.  Lottery standings update:

2016 Lottery

7.  Arizona Coyotes special teams update:

PP:  15th at 18.9% up from 16th at 18.4% last week.

PK:  24th at 78.4% up from 25th at 77.7% last week.

8.  Countdown to the 2016 World Cup: 188 days (Sept. 17-Oct. 1 in Toronto)  Final rosters to be posted on June 1.

9.  The Coyotes have 7 games this month with 6 of them at home at Gila River Arena.  Get out and support the home team.

10.  If you would be interested in doing an Arizona Coyotes podcast, please contact me.

Arizona Hockey Talk is looking for Arizona Coyotes, ASU Sun Devils, and local minor hockey writers.  If you or somebody you know is interested, please contact us.

If you have any thoughts on any of these questions please let me know.

Thanks, Mitch
