Oct. 12 Random Notes On Our Yotes

Things about the Arizona Coyotes and the NHL  that crossed my mind this past week –

Some of my thoughts, some info and notes from the past week about our Arizona Coyotes and the National Hockey League.

Opening week saw lots of firsts and congratulations for some of our new and veteran Arizona Coyotes players.

1.  WOW … the Arizona Coyotes started off the season in grand style winning their first two games of the season and on back to back nights.

2.  Congrats to Max Domi on his first NHL goal AND in his first NHL game.  He also added an assist in a 4-1 victory over the L A. Kings.  Hopefully the first two points of many, many more to come.

3.  ALSO … Congrats to Jordan Martinook on his first NHL goal vs the L. A. Kings and it was the GAME WINNER!

4.  So far, so good for Mike Smith after two games.

5.  It sure was nice to see a healthy Martin Hanzal and Mikkel Boedker in the Coyotes lineup.

6.  Congrats to Anthony Duclair on getting his first point as a Coyote with an assist on Tobias Rieder’s goal versus the Kings.

7.  I am so glad Coyotes G.M. Don Maloney plucked Tobias Rieder off the waiver wire last season.  What a nice pick-up!  WTH were the Edmonton Oilers thinking?

8.  The National Hockey League has named Arizona Coyotes goaltender, Mike Smith, the “Third Star” of the week for the week ending October 11.  (see #4)

9.  For the record, I am not in favor of Mikkel Boedker playing on the point on the PP.  I’d rather have Michael Stone’s big shot as an option out there.

10.  Arizona Hockey Talk is looking for Arizona Coyotes and ASU Sun Devils writers.  If you or somebody you know is interested, please contact us.

If you have any thoughts on any of these questions please let me know.

Thanks, Mitch
