Things about the Arizona Coyotes and the NHL  that crossed my mind this past week –

Here are a few thoughts from this past week about the National Hockey League and our Arizona Coyotes.

1.  The Arizona Coyotes finished this past week with a 2-1-0 record.  Thoughts?

2.  The NHL BOG finally approved Andrew Barroway’s (51%) purchase of the Arizona Coyotes from IceArizona (49%).  He will now become the team Governor and Chairman.  Welcome aboard.

3.  Mike Smith notched his first victory in quite awhile vs the Blue Jackets on Saturday night.  Welcome back!

4.  It looks like the Coyotes second line is officially Hanzal/Gagner/Erat.

5.  Oliver Ekman-Larsson is tied for the NHL lead in goals by a defenceman with 10!

6.  David Schlemko was placed on waivers and claimed by the Dallas Stars.  Good luck in “Big D”.

7.  Anthony Leblanc of IceArizona will still continue as President and CEO of the Arizona Coyotes.  (see #2)

Oliver Ekman-Larsson is tied for league lead with 10 goals by a defenceman!

8.  Brandon Gormley is quietly settling into his defensive role on the Coyotes.  If you haven’t already guessed by now, I’m a big believer in #33.

9.  The Good News:  The Arizona Coyotes PP is ranked #8 in the NHL running at 21.3%.

10.  The Bad News:  The Arizona Coyotes PK has dropped to #28 in the NHL at 75.2%.

11.  Yotes prospect Max Domi is playing terrific hockey for Team Canada at the WJHC.

12.  Watching how excited Andrew and Jake Barroway were during Saturday nights opening face-off was cool.

13.  RIP Stuart Scott.

If you have any thoughts on any of these questions please let me know.

Thanks, Mitch
